Close to the Government and present worldwide
Be it that our analysts are summoned to the Federal Foreign Office for a crisis meeting or fly to Jakarta to participate in conferences on arms trafficking in Asia: Proximity to the Government in Berlin is just as important for us as a foreign intelligence service as is being present on the world stage.
Our headquarters in Berlin-Mitte housing 3,200 of our 6,500 staff is right around the corner from the Federal Government. Two further main locations are in Berlin-Lichterfelde and in Pullach near Munich.

Impressive architecture including art and the visitor’s centre are only those of our headquarters’ special features that are visible to everyone. The gold-shimmering façade hides up-to-date technology and – as is the case in all our locations – the most varied range of specialists within the federal administration.
Our SIGINT Centre in Pullach near Munich
Within the limits of the law, the BND is allowed to collect and analyse information on foreign countries that is relevant in terms of foreign and security policy using technical means. By concentrating our technical expertise in the SIGINT Centre in Pullach, we strengthen this intelligence-related key skill even more.
